This working group is looking for ways of making energy use and production in Kirkbymoorside more sustainable. Meetings are held on the second Monday of the month at the King’s Head, 7.30pm.

Energy descent plan

 

When time and resources allow we would like to see progress in the following areas:

 

A housing survey to point towards areas for energy conservation.

  

Improvements in household insulation and energy saving measures.

 

Solar panels and roof turbines on every suitable roof in Kirkbymoorside

 

More efficient energy saving streetlights.

 

Investigation of sites to generate renewable energy.

 

Use of an infrared camera to pinpoint heat losses in buildings.

 

Local farm and business energy schemes.

 

Local wood chip/ pellet processing.

 

Sustainable wood fuel source for the community.

 

Working with local schools.
